Trust is so important because, without trust, the couple will lose their security with each other. If the security has gone, the couple will struggle to connect emotionally.
Loss of emotional connection creates intimacy challenges.
Loss of intimacy escalates security problems because many people attach love to intimacy.
If your partner has pulled love away, now you can’t trust them to give you love unconditionally so a couple will mirror each other at this point. You’re not loving me so I won’t love you either to protect me from you..
This helps couples to question their partner’s actions and intentions so the trust dies.
Therefore the loss of trust cycle stays alive, growing deeper and stronger and more destructive every day. When they look they will find more and more ways to lose trust and detach to protect themselves.
So if you want to rebuild trust you have to learn to forgive. The best way to forgive is to learn to understand your partner fast.
